Norwest Private Hospital – New Wing Expansion

Norwest Private Hospital, Healthscope’s flagship facility at Bella Vista in NSW, continues to grow. HPI completed the first phase of development in 2009 and the latest phase just commenced will see increased clinical capacity to meet the growing service demand in Sydney’s North-Western sector. Plans for major urban renewal in the sector include the North West Rail Link and new housing precincts delivering 12,000 new homes; in August 2014 State MP for Baulkham Hills David Elliott commented in the online Daily Telegraph NewsLocal that a projected extra 100,000 residents would live in the Hills area by 2031.

The current expansion, so far simply called the ‘New Wing’, will add 5 new theatres to the hospital’s operating unit, bringing the total to 16 Operating Rooms, including a new hybrid theatre with integral imaging equipment and education facilities. Intensive care services will expand, and an additional 55 beds will be added to existing inpatient accommodation. Support services including kitchen, sterile supply and administration will be enlarged and improved to ensure the facility can handle the increased workload.

Environmentally sustainable design has been a key imperative throughout the design and planning process and this building will achieve the equivalent of a Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) 4-star certification.

Main building works began in July 2015.
