HPI’s involvement in hospital projects often begins before there is an agreed site or operator. HPI’s tried and tested methodology brings all the key stakeholders together and leads the process from feasibility and briefing to design and construction. On many hospital projects, HPI also acts as Project Manager, monitoring the construction process until hand-over and post-occupancy evaluation.

The Client Needs

Healthcare projects require a clear understanding of a client’s needs in order to establish a brief.

In healthcare facilities, usually no single representative of the client has the sufficient range of skills to provide a detailed brief for the various building components from Bedrooms to Operating Rooms, from Radiotherapy Bunkers to Sterilising.

Health Service Planning

Service Planning starts with Needs Analysis for health services within a defined population catchment.

Statistical analysis is combined with planning skills to identify several options.

HPI’s methodology will guide the client through the development of the Service Plan.

 

Briefing and Master Planning

Briefing in healthcare projects is a highly specialised field unlike a commercial or residential project, and requires consultation with a variety of interested parties.

HPI’s skill is in translating the client’s service plan and the various ‘wish lists’ of components into a set of coherent, consistent and medically workable briefs.  Simply asking the client what they would like is no substitute for expert knowledge and leadership.

The creation of the Master Plan will reflect the long term strategy for the development of the project by projecting the future service demand (typically 10 to 15 years).

Design
